What It Is - Performance Design is Joseph's premier personal transformational change workshop.

There's only one intention to this program ...

After attending a Performance Design workshop with Dr. Joseph Riggio you will realize that you've made a profound shift at a deeply, fundamental level ... making what had been impossible, or elusive, immediately present and available to you.

What's Different - It's likely that virtually every learning experience you've had, from your earliest school to the highest level professional training you may have attended, focused on some aspect of "understanding."  Most of this kind of learning is built around the process of intellectualizing the material being presented and making it consciously available in what can be called "ordinary cognition" ... the normal way you've been trained to learn and think.

Most traditional learning is defined by what you understand and can recall explicitly.


Performance Design is not like that at all ...


In fact one of the first things that will strike you about the Performance Design workshop when you attend it will be that there is no intention at all for you to have any experience of "understanding" or "explicit recall" whatsoever. You might consider it a holiday from thinking ... along with all the stress, worry and concern that so often accompanies traditional learning and ordinary cognition.

Implicit Learning & Your "SILENT BRAIN"

Dr. Riggio has developed the approach he uses during the Performance Design workshops, the MythoSelf® Process, to directly install the learning you need, before any conscious thought or consideration, at the implicit level. After participating in the Performance Design workshop you'll find yourself in situations that used to limit or stop you performing in ways that delight and surprise you. Most of all you will find that you are producing your outcomes everywhere and with everyone without any apparent effort on your part - it will just be "natural" for you to operate this way after attending Performance Design.

The MythoSelf® Process methodolgy that Dr. Riggio uses in the Performance Design workshops, including embedded hypnotic protocols like storytelling go right to the heart of implicit learning. You'll experience transformational change at the deepest, most fundamental level without any of the limitations of traditional learning. Instead of depending on understanding and recall, implicit learning directly installs new situational response potential that operate automatically and instantly in the circumstances when you most need and want to perform exquisitely. Implicit Learning



The most powerful learning you experience is "implicit learning" that is immediately and directly installed outside of ordinary cognition or consciousness, in what we call your "SILENT BRAIN." One way you learn implicitly is through modeling, observing the actions of others. An example of modeling is learning your native language and cultural behaviors, like shaking hands, kissing or bowing when you greet someone; or using a knife and fork, chopsticks or your fingers to eat with ... or not.  

Behaviors that are implicitly learned operate automatically. Some behaviors actually operate outside of your conscious control, for example many of your emotional responses like sadness, shame, grief, anger or joy. This is also where most of your limitations reside, the things that you cannot seem to get beyond. Only by directly re-patterning these responses at the implicit level can you, and will you, move beyond the limitations that seem beyond your control.

While you cannot directly control the implicit processes that create many of your behaviors, it is possible to directly communicate with parts of the brain responsible for how they operate ...

Here's the "Secret" - You cannot communicate with your "SILENT BRAIN" - the parts of your brain responsible for implicit cognition and response - in ordinary language. Your "SILENT BRAIN" is responsible for non-ordinary cognition and operates before, outside of and beyond ordinary language and representation. As far as you're concerned these parts of your brain don't think, they are literally silent, i.e.: without ordinary language or representation. Instead of using language or representation as the primary operators of cognition, your "SILENT BRAIN" uses direct sensory input and output.

Here's the Most Important Thing - Elite performance is processed in your "SILENT BRAIN" ... these are the parts of your brain that are responsible for your most critical life sustaining processes, your innate "protect & serve" survival instincts, your behaviors that operate faster than ordinary thought ... all of the behaviors that lead to what we call elite performance are processed in your "SILENT BRAIN."

You must re-program your "SILENT BRAIN" using implicit processes
, like hypnotic protocol, somatic intervention, contextual experiential learning design or behavioral response modeling, that operate outside of ordinary cognition. Performance Design Workshop Format:

The Performance Design workshop is unique in it's structure as well as content (or lack thereof) and process used to present it. 

  • There is no agenda whatsoever for the Performance Design workshop

Since there is no intention to provide training, or for you to recall anything that might be presented there's no need for an agenda. This provides the most open framing for people to bring themselves into the workshop space and to participate fully.

  • The workshop agenda is what you bring ... just your questions and desires

Don't fret about the seeming contradiction between the first bullet and this one. You'll find out soon enough when you attend the Performance Design workshop that what you may have thought about as contradictory in the past is simply another limitation of thinking to go beyond.

While there is literally no agenda going into the Performance Design workshop an agenda of sorts naturally emerges as we engage in the work. You'll find yourself swept along by the power and potency of what happens as we allow the agenda to be emergent in this way, rather than artificially imposing an agenda on what's going to happen before the fact ... it's utterly liberating. I guarantee you that after you experience this approach you will never want to go back to using an agenda again ... or being subjugated to one either.

  • The Performance Design workshop happens over two distinctly different days

Day One - This is open to a larger group of up to thirty people who will participate in this powerful, transformational experience together. Over the course of the day people will ask questions, seek advice and input, and engage in discussion and dialogue about whatever it is that's on their minds, and what it is they want to achieve and attain in their lives.

What most typically comes up during the course of this day are the limitations that people are experiencing that prevent them from manifesting the outcomes they sometimes desperately want in their lives ... on their own and with others. Very seldom will this lead to a direct, analytical or algorithmic answer about what to do or to be doing, i.e.: the steps to take from one to seven to get the outcome.

Joseph will typically continue to move along until he stops to tell some powerful story about something often seemingly unrelated to anything that's been going on, or maybe he'll just engage with someone, almost seeming to ignore or minimize what's been happening before then. Yet long before the day is over you'll recognize two things will have happened:

  1. Joseph has answered every request made during the day ... personally and individually, as well as to the group-at-large ... and more often than not going much, much further than the request seemed to require or imply, after a response like this there's simply no way back to the beginning
  2. You will sense for yourself that something powerful, profound and fundamental has shifted for you - often in a sublime and irreversible way that opens the path for you to become what you have most desired for yourself
The brilliance of this day will only be fully realized and recognized by you though when you've been away from it for a while, when you catch yourself being different somehow in powerful ways that you've longed for and desired. You will most likely not be able to explain it logically, but you will know that your time spent in the Performance Design workshop had something to do with it, even as that remains inexplicable to you.

Day Two - We reserve Day Two for a much smaller group of no more than twelve participants total. This day follows directly after Day One with the larger group and focuses on further developing and extending the solutions generated the day before. Joseph will work much more closely with each participant, going further beneath the surface ... unearthing hidden limitations, secondary gains and unconscious programs that often sabotage your best efforts at making significant, profound, transformational change.

Joseph uses extremely sophisticated conversational hypnotic protocols to provoke irreversible change in the direction of your deepest desires. You'll often find after Joseph has worked with you in this way that more than you asked for or about has come to pass. Things you hadn't even considered have shifted in ways that make it possible for you to produce outcomes beyond anything you'd achieved before participating in the Performance Design workshop. Instead of focusing on producing what you desire, you'll find yourself engaged in performing at a new level where you allow yourself the freedom to explore what's possible rather than to be limited by what you know, or believe, you can achieve.


Some Additional Performance Design Particulars:

The Cumulative Effect - One of the more unique and powerful aspects of the Performance Design programs is the cumulative effect, the way that multiple attendances reinforce and extend the impact of the program. Since the program is not based on an agenda, or content driven, you are free to address whatever is most urgent for you at the time. What's important to you changes and shifts over time as life's circumstances come up for you, so it's only natural to want to have the opportunity to get the kind of extraordinarily valuable input that's available to you in the Performance Design workshop when you most need it.

What's interesting to many of the Performance Design workshop participants is how they seem to benefit more and more from each subsequent attendance in the program. This is because at a subliminal, implicit level participants change the fundamental way they think at a neurological level from their exposure in the Performance Design workshop. This is mostly due to the methodology that Dr. Riggio uses during the workshop presentation. His approach is based on implicit learning versus the ordinary approach of explicit learning. Instead of intellectualizing what he presents Joseph makes it experiential and empirical, so that your absorb it and respond prior to how you would in ordinary conscious cognition. 

The cumulative effect is all about re-patterning the way you respond in the modules of your neurology that operate without language and/or representation. For example, Joseph uses somatic interventions and integration to work directly at the level of your cerebellar cognition based in how you move and experience things emotively. This is outside of and beyond what most changework professionals are even thinking about doing, much less being capable of doing. However for you what's important is that each time you experience Performance Design you're brain will begin working better and better, and your performance will become more natural, effortless and spectacular.

Working Within The Group - In the Performance Design workshop the power of working with and alongside others creates a kind of power and leverage that's not possible when you're working alone. Although each person comes to the Performance Design workshop with their own unique and personal outcomes, under Joseph's expert guidance and facilitation the group quickly begins to form a dynamic that urges and propels each participant forward. Instead of having to learn each lesson on your own and based solely on your personal previous learning and experience, you will have the advantage of both Joseph and the group on your side as well. This difference can make all the difference when you are committed to succeeding.
